Comparativ
Comparativ“Comparativ. A Journal on Global History and Comparative Analysis of Societies” is a paper-based scientific journal, which has been established in 1991 and since then publishes six issues per year. Each issue contains 4-6 thematically related articles, a forum section, and book reviews. With its clear focus on thematic issues, Comparativ offers an opportunity to publish results from panels or smaller workshops but also allows to bring achievements from collective research projects to the attention of the academic audience. Topics for thematic issues are selected based on their relevance for global and comparative history. Comparativ regularly publishes overviews on current trends in world history writing.
Comparativ is jointly edited by Matthias Middell, Katja Castryck-Naumann, Megan Maruschke and Hannes Siegrist. In consultation with the board, the editors prepare the annual conference of the editorial board, evaluate incoming proposals for thematic issues, and invite scholars for new and promising themes to be explored in an upcoming issue.
The editorial office is headed by Forrest Kilimnick (since 2024). The editorial office manages the peer-review process and coordinates with the editorial and advisory board. It also organizes mutual undertakings between Comparativ and the e-journal Connections. A Journal for Historians and Area Specialists.
