Connections is a peer-reviewed e-journal in the field of area, transnational, transregional, and world and global histories, edited on behalf of ENIUGH by Katja Castryck-Naumann and Matthias Middell. Connections is a part of the Clio-online network, which acts as an information and communication platform. The editors are supported by the Steering Committee of ENIUGH in the peer-review process, which is based upon cooperation between research units across Europe. The editorial office is connected to the ENIUGH headquarters and is located both at the Leibniz Institute for the History and Culture of Eastern Europe and at the Research Centre Global Dynamics (ReCentGlobe) at Leipzig University.

It was founded under the name of history.transnational in 2004 by French and German scholars from the Centre for Advanced Study at Leipzig University and from the Transferts culturels research group at the Ecole Normale Supérieure and the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique Paris.

Connections publishes book reviews, providing critical engagement with recent scholarship in its field. In addition, it features announcements and reports on academic events relevant to its thematic focus, as well as publishes research articles and opinion pieces addressing interdisciplinary topics in area studies and global history. With over 15,000 subscribers, the e-journal has established itself as an effective instrument for communication within the multilingual European and global community of academics being interested in transregional and worldwide connections.
